Nico's Restaurant and Bar Heats up Downtown Greensboro

Nico's Restaurant and Bar will be opening soon.   

Restauranteur and chef John Drees, who conceived such local foodie havens as Southern Lights Bistro and 1618 West Seafood and Grill, is teaming up with Nico Scavone to bring Greensboro Nico's Restaurant and Bar.

Nico Scavone is a native of Sicily with extensive experience from some of Europe’s most exquisite restaurants and hotels. Drees and Scavone, together with their executive chef Sam Shumaker, will combine their experience in the culinary arts, authentic family recipes, and fresh local ingredients to create contemporary southern Italian dishes, eclectic fusion and sumptuous desserts. To compliment its innovative cuisine, Nico's will offer a wine list featuring rare Italian vintages and other sought after selections from around the world — all delivered in an elegant yet lively atmosphere with a level of service that one would expect from a fine European restaurant. The constantly evolving menu will feature a Bistro lunch throughout the day, specially designed for Greensboro's business-district, and a four-star dinner menu. The menu will feature items such as:

Pasta al sugo di aragosta * Linguini pasta in a flavorful lobster ragout sauce.

Risotto asparagi e gamberi * A creamy southern Italian style risotto with shrimp and fresh asparagus.

Insalata di finocchio * Pear, prosciutto and fennel, on bed of mixed greens.

There will also be homemade breads paired with extra virgin olive oils from various regions of southern Italy.

Nico's Restaurant and Bar will be located at 201-A North Elm Street in Downtown Greensboro, at the base of the Center Pointe building across from the Center City Park.  Nico's will offer a private dining room equipped with a 60" plasma TV, data hookups, wireless microphone, and seating for 30.
